    Into kbfx code

    Funny, lately I got my mood back to hack on kbfx again. So far, I’ve modded the vistabar layout. Updated kcmkbfx with “default” built-in theme.

    Nothing much you can see in my screenshot, except a visual bug. Maybe I should add a padding left and rigth option so tabindex (category list) and application list container can be positioned appropriately as the current theme desire.

    Okay, see the ugly screenshot and move along :)

      I thought you are using Vista (at first, before peeking inside more from the enlarged image). You ought to try Ubuntu (instead of Fedora), but I think that’s everyone’s choice :)

      Well, I love Kubuntu better :p. They came in one bundle with KDE :) . Anyway, I don’t feel like switching distro atm. My Fedora has been fine, not to mention I hate to port my preference and reconfiguring my box back from point zero :p

      PS:
      I’ve installed Kubuntu on my gf’s laptop. Too bad I’ve made the system a lil bit crippled (no office suite) when I upgraded it to KDE 3.5.

    Kbfx: theme configuration support

    This is day #3 of the long weekend. Thankfully I can produce something worth looking :) . So, what we have for this current code:

    • Customizeable theme folder
    • Choose and apply installed theme (only preview, not yet applied to the real kbfx “vistabar”).

    There are some “new” convention here. To install theme, as usual, put the uncompresed theme under ~/.kbfx/bartheme/. And don’t forget to make a kbfx.theme file, like what I have below:
    [geek@toni kbfx-toni]$ cat ~/.kbfx/bartheme/New_terminator/kbfx.theme
    [Theme]
    ThemeName=New Terminator
    Top=terminator/topbg.png
    Bottom=terminator/botbg.png
    Bg=terminator/bg.png
    Tab=terminator/tabbg.png
    Mask=terminator/mask.png

    Please notice that image location will be assumed as a relative path to the theme folder.

    [geek@toni kbfx-toni]$ ls -l ~/.kbfx/bartheme/New_terminator/terminator/
    total 136
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 74634 Sep 4 15:27 bg.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 11519 Sep 4 15:27 botbg.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 4025 Sep 4 15:27 button.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 494 Sep 4 15:27 kicker.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 6689 Sep 4 15:27 mask.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 494 Sep 4 15:27 tabbg.png
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 geek geek 23199 Sep 4 15:27 topbg.png

    TODO:

    • Fix UI issue. Somehow a change to the KURLComboRequester there doesn’t notify the KConfigXT thus, the apply button persists to stay disabled. Switching theme is also has the same issue (it’s on a QComboBox though, not KURLComboRequester). Also mind those layout mess!
    • Code the masking preview. Would be nice if user can toggle the masking just to test it.
    • Menu configuration support.

    Hey, what’s a press release mean without any screenshot ;) . There you go …
