This would be my second movie in Singapore. Before watching the movie, there’s not much I can remember about X-Files. I remember a bit about UFO, and unspeakable creatures. But my most clear memory about X-Files is Catatonia’s song: Mulder and Scully.
It’s true, X-Files has put itself into TV series and movie history. Mulder and Scully has been an icon, I may say. So, are their movies an icon as well? As I cannot remember their previous one (I better watch it soon), I will review what I’ve watched the other day.
My expectation was a mind twisting plot. I was looking for a long movie, tickling my brain cells to connects clues, and all kind of dots. Okay, I remember a bit about the former X-Files. It’s a serial murder case involving a freezer truck, no? The later is similar, only lacking the dots to be connected by the audience. Or simply my brain was too numb to be tickled.
To think again, I thought the camera angle wasn’t cinematic enough. I remember the scene where Mulder was about to show his come-back face, there’s no chilling music score, there’s not enough frames to describe how the room looks like, and the movie successfully made me impatiently wait only to see a smiling Mulder with a long beard.
My final judge, this movie fails to put me into either Mulder or Scully. I was merely an audience sitting there waiting for them to solve the case. Overall, this movie lacks of plot, as The Mummy does. Wait, there’s another judgement: my English listening comprehension is indeed need improvement.
PS:
My review is totally flawed as I haven’t see the previous movie. So I declare this as my first(?) screwed up post
