Ideas: Wedding Invitation Card Designer

Background
I get constant e-mail from flickr telling me that someone has favorited my wedding invitation card. The photo has 73 favorites and 15 thousands view (since Oct 2006). This is a quite clear signal that people are digging this keyword.

What’s our “user focus”?

What designer (other type of user/ecosystem player) will get?

Please note that designer (as ecosystem player) won’t be available in early phase. Initial card design will be supplied by subcontracting design job. Print job will likely supported for local area until we can engage with international partners.

UI Guidelines

Activity flow

  1. Start new card or clone card design
  2. Choose background
  3. Put text
  4. Spice up card: add badges, ribbons, bubbles, etc
  5. Repeat from #2 (preview will be realtime)
  6. Optionally share card design
  7. Optionally print card

Epilog
This may not the best idea ever. But looking at the niche, it may just work. This demand will always there except breeding/mating formally is no longer necessary for human race. The ultimate revenue won’t come from ads but instead it will be print and packaging service. There’re many exit options to choose as service progresses. It can turn out to be generic card designer, event organizer, designer community, printing agencies, you name it.

I already have some people names in my head, eg: web designer, card designer. So in case anyone willing to invest in this idea, I’m ready to go :D

Wedding Invitations are more ‘art’ than ‘technology’. I am doing mine now, which is a total headache. I think this particular audience wants to be more ’special’ about the design, rather than something ‘template’ generated.

Another issue, most monitor colors will not match the finish product.

Also, you’ll need a professional offset printing company, just just cheap ones. I have the experience and I am about to sue that printing company.

PS: I need blog post ideas … :(

Great input. That should remind me of not targetting high standard client. I have an assumption though, high quality standard consumer will not likely visit or even use this service online. However they may use it for reference or do custom request. However, i also believe that ur input are not to take lightly. Thanks a bunch pal.

saepio.com - i actually use it to create fliers, posters, banners, and more at my non-profit. steep learning curve, but very powerful once you get into it.

The online services shouldn’t be limited to Indonesian, while the offline services (printing and packaging) may just make sense if temporarily limited to local area.
