    Fun map mashup ideas 

    I admit, this is my first time looking deeper into Maps API. There’s been a lot of overhaul since my last visit a long time ago. There’s this mapplet thing, promising to be able to make maps based app in within 5 minutes. I totally hooked on it.

    I have these several data in my kitchen sink. I’ve created several Dapps and pipes. I thought why not using them for some fun activities with Maps API. There’s this geocoder object capable of translating human-readable address into machine-understandable number. OTOH, I have a city list from 21cineplex.com available via Dapper/Pipes. Voila, with a little _IG_FetchContent method and a few lines of javascript (in fact, it’s available on geocoder example) I can make a marker for every city having 21cineplex theater. And to go further, I’ve also made a dapper capable of fetching now playing list from a certain city_id. Okay, this would be great. I’ll fill the marker with now playing list, on demand when user clicked the marker. And the marker for the cities will be initialized with realtime data as well. Now, that’s what I call mashup. A pure mix and match on the web. I don’t even need to provide any backend or space nor bandwidth for hosting purposes.

    Too good to be true. If only Dapper is not having error when fetching from 21cineplex.com site, I’d have been able to show something cool now. There’re two possibilities: the error is exclusively on dapper side, or 21cineplex.com is blocking dapper user agent from fetching their content. And if the later is what really happen, then it would be a total-foolness-moron-score-one-they-do-not-get-web-two-point-oh curse.

    Sabtu malam, 24 November 2007. Setelah kebingungan mencari orang-orang yang hendak diajak maen. Setelah berdebat tak berujung hendak maen kemana. Setelah memastikan bahwa kita tidak bisa berkaraoke di Happy Puppies karena super penuh dan mengantri. Yasu, akhirnya kita kembali ke rencana awal, ke Saphire untuk bermain bowling.

    Whehehe, ternyata menyenangkan juga maen bowling yak? Menggelindingkan bola yang rada berat ke arah target. Brooollll!. Strike!!! Yes,, bisa strike sekali .. lebih gampang daripada maen bowling di 3530 :p. Foto di samping diambil setelah selesai satu set, 4 lawan 3 orang, habis 160-an ribu (sewa lane, sepatu dan beli kaos kaki@5000). Ayo ndi, kita maen bowling lagiy!

    Senin malam, 26 November 2007. GosonX, Pramur, dan aku sepakat untuk makan ramen. Mulanya aku yang kelaparan mengajak GosonX unutk makan, tapi seperti biasa kamu tidak tahu hendak makan kemana. Sewaktu GosonX hendak mengajak Pramur makan, aku nyeletuk: “Ramen, kilometer 10!”.

    Setelah di-gugling,oh dasar orang sok IT, akhirnya kita mendapatkan informasi tentang lokasi dan juga keyakinan bahwa malam masih buka. Blog yang kami jadikan referensi kebetulan adalah blognya jeng matriphe (kenalan sewaktu jaman helpjogja dan ternyata kenalan si manusia-fetish-ayanami). Jeng matriphe, yang waktu itu berkunjung bersama manusia-fetish-ayanami dkk, menamai ramen ini sebagai ramen Romusha yang sepertinya memang tidak salah. Mangkuknya lebih mirip ember/baskom daripada mangkuk mie. Anehnya, saya malah bisa menghabiskan porsi segedhe gaban ini lebih dulu dari di Gosonx dan Pramur. Ah, kalian memang masih cupu!! :p

    Why, IE? 

    Dear AlMighty, why are You keeping IE market alive? Is it some sort of a balance of goods and evils? I know it’s up to us to choose. But dear Lord, some of us are just plain dumb and not capable of choosing in between.

    Dear AlMighty, shed your light upon us. Show us the the path You’ve been blessed. The standard compliant one.

    And dear Lord, give me the strength to withstand this wreck created by “Why your job look awful in IE”.

      As for security, ummm… I think IE name-the-version-here is spyware installers’ and spammers’ best way to earn money. I am merciful enough not to let them starve, aren’t I? I also love running text on the status bar generated by good old <marquee> tag. Gorgeous.

      Ow, btw, please tell Dave and Blake to keep those firefox-bin process under 100MB of memory, please. My box has only 32 MB EDO DRAM installed. *grin*

      Long time no time pal :)

      I like how you describe the game we have at the moment. LOL.

      I don’t have any probelm for keeping IE around, as long as I don’t have to deal with it in any sort of way :D . Not even using it, or worse develop things on it. Oh Lord, protect me from those evils!

      marquee tag can’t reach the status bar, but I got your point and I let you get away with that small flaw :p. Uh oh, I’ll make sure Brendan Eich as david and Blake supervisor know what you think about those greediness firefox-bin has. Meanwhile, I think Brendan Eich will recommend you to use ~/firefox3/firefox-bin, like I do ;)
