Slow News Day

As usual, Saturday which should be non-work day has caused a slow news day effect. As we can see on OSNews, there’s only 2 news published in Dec 2nd. One tells about how Vista will be a baby step toward Microsoft NAP (Network Access Protection) which apparently need both end to have Vista or Longhorn setup. I think we need to read more about what this NAP about, and how it’s differ from any network protection schema available today. I have a doubt that it’s only brand marketing, but let be positive by read first and conclude later.

In contrast to OSNews, Slashdot has more things to tell. Among those news there’s only one caught my eyes. Quoted from Slashdot, Jeremiah Grossman (CTO of WhiteHat Security Inc.) denies the hype claiming Ajax is insecure. As we may have known from the available hype, XSS has been one of the dangerous threat within Ajax-ified app. Further more, there are still fake request, increased complexity, denial of service, etc following. However, Jeremiah Grossman told that those issues has been there before the age of Ajax, and recommend that security best practices remains unchanged. Reading TFA (The Fine Article) will let you know why his words are plausible.

Still related to Web 2.0 buzz, we are moving to originalsignal.com. Shawn Fanning (the Napster man) has started to seed money for his new startup, Rupture. it would be another social network, but focused at WoW community. This is quite a niche market, with the web 2.0 style of service I’m sure it will be much more than a forum or game rank system that we have been able to see everywhere.

Not as smart as Fanning, or may TechCrunch calls it stupid, Alex Tew who has been a millioner founding the Million Dollar Homepage will be betting his luck on his doubled million pixel-again ad. I’m not quite sure how he will pull this idea thru as other me-too follower are not so millioner as he is. Could it be that he believes that originality will succeed, or he has things hidden?
