Earthquake: Jogjakarta

Cool pin eh? ^_^.
Finally we (gosonx and me) visit J-Toku. Kinda hard to spot, since the sign mark was not laid crossing the road but facing to the road instead.
Anyway, J-Toku was not as what I’ve imagined. I thought it has a wider room. Kinda like a store with merchandise laid on surrounding walls. Hehe. Nah, it’s still cool ^0^
Hey, what is that laid on the wall. It’s a full scale cross gun of Nicholas D. Wolfwood (picture is here, here, and here) from Trigun. The owner of the gun, one of the J-Toku production crew told me that the gun is actually loadable with some sort of explosive bullet. Kinda cool eh, it’s just too bad that we didn’t have the chance to see the bullet being fired in the Anime Attack event few days ago. Yep, we saw it there, though we didn’t really know who was carrying it. Now we know ^_^
There are other cool stuff at J-Toku. Mostly tokusatu thingy but you can also found Chuunin jacket, Konoha head band, Kunai, and some action figures. You can also order a special mug (I’m not so sure about using mug as a vocab :p) painted with pictures from any anime you like.
Drop by Jl. Soga 26 Celeban near the Kusumanegara Heroic (not sure bout this “heroic” vocab as well :p ) Cemetary, Jogjakarta. Or phone them on +62 0274 381265.
I hope I’m not crossing any lines by posting this J-Toku infos here :D. It’s simply touka-kouka principle. You’ve made me happy and I give free promotion for the fair exchange ^_^
Fun Day
I think it’s more apropriate to call this day as fun instead of lucky. Let’s walk in it step by step, shall we
- I managed to get the ticket and then watch X-Men: The Last Standing. It was not bad, the special effect was quite stunning.
- I met the cosplayer I wached on Anime Attack. Got a chance to talk with Sango. Gomen, for I haven’t introduce myself properly ^^!. Actually I have some photos for this event. it just too bad that I don’t have it handy since I’ll need to wait for Momon to transfer it for me. Where’d your cradle go?
- Latest fun came from deviantArt.com. I was granted a free trial subscription for a week. I’m not a deviantArt savvy, but I think it’s cool ^0^. The website is still felt heavy though, even without any ads around. I do really think that deviantArt need a good diet program
Hikaru Reload: Anime Attack
This must be my first outdoor otaku experience :). Suuuugooooi (pardon my japanese vocab :p), Hikaru Reload: Anime Attack was indeed a great event. Though there are no anime stands, the cosplay and the band were great. I didn’t attend the event til finished. I didn’t have enough energy to wait til the end of the show. I hope there were no photo session in the end of the show. *crossed finger*
There’re not many to tell here, it just great! :). Minna, arigatou gozaimasu … I’m very thankful for this great experience. I’ll be looking forward to another event.
Densha Otoko
Yep, I watch the whole 11 episodes (@ more or less 1 hours), straight in a night :D. Densha Otoko, has a interesting plot. Not to mention if you’re a geek or an otaku. It’s afiction drama based on a true story in Japan. It shows how a social live could happen underneath the geekiness and nerdiness of an otaku. Recommended for you who never know what otaku means, and may raise your humanity feeling: they are human and they have some interesting thing you may never met on a normal person.
I’ve said it all, it’s a romantic entertaining dorama. It has a very high concentration of typical anime expression. If you love Japan, you like romantic dorama, you’re an otaku or a geek or someone doesn’t know what otaku is. And if you love to see not so japanese but pretty actress :D, you will watch this dorama!!
Hermes-san … Benoist!!!! Minna, I want that action figure of Getsumen Toheiki Mina!! Kawai neeeee!!
Linux: A European Threat to Our Computers
Nothing beats this “joke”, except the localhost hacker joke :)). OMFG, this is hilariously funny. Imagine what will happen to the world when those kind of people rules the world?. They’ll be last for one night only, for Pinky and Brain will sure have a successful coup-de-taat (corrct my spelling please) that night :)). ROTFL
FormHelper.js: Introducing Scripted Client-Side Validation
Another enhancement to my previous balloon effect and simple_validator.js. To make the separation of css, js, and html become event clearer (subjectively), FormHelper.js is now here for you.
You are now no longer need to write “required_input”, “optional_input”, “type_number” or even “std_form”, to bind the element onto simple_validator.js, inline within an input tag. Welcome to script-rulez world, baby! ;).
Myspace.com: Thanks for the add
You’d never think that it was a massive add, right? Without even knowing who you are or would you finally even care. Didn’t it irritate you? You were used as a promotion media, and yet you confirmed without even bother to ask? Have you read about his/her/their profile? Does it share the same “ideology” you have? Are you sure that he/she/they are not sucks? Are you ready to be associated as his/her/their friend?
No body even bother to ask. That’s what irritate me the most. Grrrrhhhh!!
No, thanks!
Even Nastier Behaviour: Balloon Notification Effect
It’s been a long time I haven’t talk about anything techie. So here it is. This is a sequel from my previous experience with Behaviour.Last time, I made a simple validator using Behaviour. Quite handy and simple. You need only to assign a class name to made your input element got validated on form submission.
I am using a bit different notification mechanism here. using graceful degradation, I add a new notification feature. It’s a balloon notification. You can see a demo here. Uhmm, I dunno what to talk more. It’s clear enough, I hope.
Uh oh, the javascript balloon effect was adapted from this URL. And the search button was stolen from an app in my office :D. Now, if you’re pity enough of the balloon artistic factor, you can donate me a better visual art. It’d be awesome if you can give me a div which hold a special content area, with balloon effect in the “background”.
Normal behaviour
Graceful degradation

Singapore Salary Rate
Ever wonder how much should a Singaporean company should pay for your service? Well. I have a diagram here, depicted the salary benchmark between various IT position. It’s not official though. You can lookup the offical wage/salary information on the Offical ManPower Ministry of Singapore.
Try searching the most primitive organism within the SDLC food chain: programmer. Oh my, you’re entitled (about) S$3000 per month. Here I copied the attached information about the number we are looking at:
Median monthly gross wage includes all remuneration received by an employee before deductions of the employee’s CPF contributions and personal income tax. It includes overtime payments, commissions, allowances (e.g. shift, food, housing and transport) and other regular cash payments; but excludes employer’s CPF contributions, bonuses, other lump sum payments and payments-in-kind
Now hold your head up, value your skill. And refuse to be underpaid!
Disclaimer:
This has nothing to do with my current job. I’m pretty much loving my job
(a salary raise wouldn’t hurt though :p). This information would be useful in any case you’re about to do some offshore work. Telecommuting or any other type of working related to Singapore territory. Know your price!
