I’m sure Software technology Park isn’t quite familiar within our ears (at least for my ears
). How about Bangalore, Karmataka, Infosys, does it ring a bell? Well, today I were lucky. I had the chance to attend a spech presented by Mr. Willem van der Touw and Mr. Zoran Trifkovic (from Zurich Management Group). There were also Pak Lukito, Pak Junaedi, and Pak Sofyan Effendi giving speech.
Okay, let’s start all over again. The speeches were taling about issues around Software Technology Park. Why is it worth planning, how to achieve it, and how other countries has done it. I found it a lil bit shocking that our neighbour country has gone quite far with Software Technology Park. Even Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand has been already doing it.
Oh, darn, this s what always happen when I tried to write story with some notes around me. I trap myself into oblivion. Going no where but bulshitting with my writings
Grrrr.
So, the speech was fascinating. To know that our province has also planned the same thing (STP) since a quite a while. Though it still facing some problem, mostly communication and coordinatioon I guess. Which then in turn made the discussion session became a lil bit dull
. Most conversation happen between local people instead of interacting with the speaker
.
Mr Willem told us stories about what has happened in other countries. The history and the progress of establishing a STP. His speech covers all aspect of STP, from definition to success factors. It was all new materials for me. it was all logical and make sense and stimulating. Now I I’m questioning myself wether I should look for opportunities outside Jogja or stick in and enjoy the progress of the transformation into a Cyber City.
Meanwhile, on other speech, Mr. Zoran, from ZMG, told us many things about outsourcing. It’s obvious that STP cna not be separated from outsoucing. outsourcing is a part of the interaction within STP. For the least, STP will enjoy mutual relationship with other business instituin outside its territory via outsourcing contract. That’s why outsourcing matters. There are a lot of demands that current common outsourcing partners are no moer capcble of handling. Bad news is Indonesia is not yet on the radar for an alternative outsourcing partner.
Afterlunch, Mr Willem delivered a bonus speech covering ISO 9001 and ISO 15504. Those standar are an absolute need for software industries. Not for being recognizeable, but for its own good sake. Being attractive to venture capital or other investor is just a logical side effect. ISO will help software industry to increase its performance. Every process will be controlable since everything is monitored and has its own indicator. This way, I logically think that it will be easy to spot an unefficeint process which in turn can be eliminated or repaired.
A great experience. I hope I can attend some more speeches like this.
