Opensource is going awefully expensive

Got this link from OSNews.com, telling about recent IBM nuclear attack. The article said, IBM recently bought JBoss main rival, Gluecode, and release it as opensource software.

Further more, the article talks about it hesitation wether opensource companies will eventually able to sustain themselves since they’re mainly selling services and support while o.t.h people or customer tends to take the free beer and run.

Finally, the article told us about its worries. That in the end, customer will be forced to pay extra money to keep their take-and-run software, to hire geeks and nerd to maintain their orphaned code since their vendor (which they take-and-run code from) was already out of bussiness (for the reason mentioned in previous paragraph).

Well, I did get confused. But, after writing this entry, I had given myself an enligtenment. That this is a circle. If, the companies weren’t doing take-and-run, the opensource companies wouldn’t be out of business. Thus, opensource companies can still breathing while giving those customer some opensource software, supports and also services.

So .. Forbes == FUD?
